“Transformative improvements” at Lowton High as school rated Good

by Editor

Lowton High is celebrating the outcome of its latest Ofsted judgement, with inspectors saying the school has had a “transformative improvement” since they last visited.

The school was graded Good in all areas, a much improved result from it’s previous ‘requires improvement’ judgement.

Inspectors said the school now offers a good quality of education, with an “ambitious curriculum” which ensures that students “can and do” achieve well. They visited on 21 and 22 March 2023, and found that behaviour was typically good, and that classrooms are “calm and purposeful”.

The report says that pupils at Lowton High are ‘happy and keen to learn’. Any incidents of bullying are dealt with effectively, and pupils feel safe.

The school was also praised for the support it offers to pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Ofsted said teachers were well trained and “adapt their delivery of the curriculum so that pupils with SEND enjoy success and achieve well”.

Ofsted said Lowton High’s leadership and management was good; crediting the teamwork between the Leadership Team – including Head Teacher Kieran Larkin and the school’s governors, which has delivered signiciant improvements since it was inspected in February 2020. They said governors were “committed to the ongoing development of the school” and that staff are proud to work at Lowton High.

You can read the report in full on Ofsted’s website.
