Lowton Scouts ready for camping adventures

A Lowton Scout group will be ready for new adventures thanks to Redrow’s community fund.

1st Lowton Scouts successfully applied for a £500 grant from Redrow to purchase new camping kits ready for the warmer months.

The fund was launched to help community groups, charities and other good causes based in, or serving, the area around Redrow’s new development Oakwood Fields, Lowton.

“Our camping kit was looking a little old and worn out, and we wanted to get our young people back out amongst nature, so now thanks to this funding it means we can,” said Emma Norris, club leader at 1st Lowton Scouts.

“It will be nice to be able to get the group out and about scouting and doing what we do best, making new friends, having amazing adventures, and learning new skills… once the weather warms up!

“Thank you very much to Redrow for this funding.”

Sian Pitt, sales director at Redrow Lancashire, said: “These community grants are designed to support small projects at the heart of local life that can make a big difference.

“We hope this funding will create new adventures and memories for some of the youngest members in this community for many years to come.”

The community grants are in addition to more than £400,000 of contributions Redrow is providing to the local community around its development in Lowton as part of the planning process.

We have previously reported that Redrow have also supported several other local community groups, including Golborne Allotments, St Mary’s Community Hall and Lowton Residents Association.
