Community turns out for Golborne Christmas lights switch-on

by Editor Lowton and Golborne News

Christmas is now officially underway in Golborne, after the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.

Hundreds of people gathered in Peter Kane Square on Thursday, 25 November 2021 to see the Christmas tree and lights around the town centre officially turned.

The button was pressed by Mayor of Wigan Council, and local Golborne councillor, Yvonne Klieve – with a little help from Santa! Entertainment was provided by Dr Beet’s Mobile Disco Christmas disco, performances by Golborne Brass Band and talented singer Aaron Bennett.

Thanks also went to the Rotary Club for bringing Santa and his sleigh, Wigan Council’s Events Team, ASDA Golborne and Hair at 64 for their help in making the event such a success.
