Cheerleaders are off to America!

But the young dancers of Gemstone Cheer need YOUR help to raise the money to make their dreams of competing in Florida come true.

A cheerleading and dance club from Leigh really has something to cheer about – they’ve been selected to compete in a World Championships in America!

Gemstone Cheer and Dance, which has many young dancers from Lowton and Golborne, has qualified for a place at the Allstar World Championship in Orlando, Florida next May.

It’s a dream come true for everyone involved in the club, which has gone from strength to strength over the past six years.

Now the club are embarking on fundraising activity to help cover the costs of sending their squad over to the States for the “opportunity of a lifetime”.

Head Coach, Lydia, said: “We have grown from a single team of young Pom dancers, to a club with 14 teams covering 4 styles of Cheer and Dance with over 150 people aged 2 years to adult.

“After the difficulty of the last two years of COVID-19 restrictions, which majorly impacted the clubs’ finances, everyone at the club was determined to make the 2021/22 season a great one for all our members.

“We are delighted to say that Season 5 has been an amazing year! We have competed at events across England from Stoke to Loughborough and achieved amazing results with all our teams.

“To add to this fantastic season one of our Pom dance teams made up of 10 young girls aged 10- 11 yrs, not only got first place in their category but also won the Grand Champions award at Cheer City in May 2022 (highest scoring team performance of the day across all styles of dance/cheer).

“This resulted in them being awarded a bid/invitation to compete at the Allstar World Championship in Orlando, Florida next May 2023.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime for these young people to be offered the chance to go to this prestigious event.”

Can you help Gemstone Cheer get to Florida?

The cheerleaders are now looking for businesses to help them get to the Allstar World Championships by helping support the cost.

The cost per dancer will be between £1,500 to £2,000 including flights, accommodation, kits, entry fees, music licences and insurances etc.

The club are looking for any help to raise the money, and say businesses can make a gesture big or small. In return there will be sponsorship opportunities for companies who get involved.

If you think you can help, please email info@gemstonecheeranddance.co.uk or call 01942 800865.

Individuals can also help by making donations towards the cost on the Gemstone Cheer Go Fund Me page. Anything you can spare will be very much appreciated!
