A team of CareGivers based in North Cheshire will be given greater access to mental health and wellbeing sessions thanks to the support of their employer.
Right at Home North Cheshire & Leigh, which provides care for people living in their own homes, has been running weekly wellbeing sessions over the last three months to help all staff, including those suffering with anxiety or going through the menopause.
The sessions cover yoga and breathing techniques, and now the business is looking to expand its offering with mini retreats, local walks and practices such as reiki.
The move comes in line with World Mental Health Day (October 10), which aims to raise awareness of mental health and drive positive change.
Right at Home North Cheshire owner Julie Houston said: “We have examples of staff who have been bereaved and used the breathing techniques to manager their grief and help them get back to work.
“All members of our team who have attended enjoy the sessions. Those members of staff who are going through the menopause or suffering from anxiety due to their busy lives are also benefitting from and really enjoying these sessions.”
The wellbeing sessions are delivered by Nicola Edwards, founder of Cheshire-based Great New Beginnings.
A former senior manager in the corporate world, Nicola identified the need to look after employees and focus on better wellbeing to promote happy, engaged and productive workplaces.
Commenting on her work with Right at Home North Cheshire, Nicola said: “Working with Julie and her team has been a joy and we constantly review and look at ways of changing the programme to ensure we are meeting the needs of management and employees.
“Julie is passionate about her team and open to suggestions to assist. We will be developing the programme further to include workshops – vision boards, mini retreats to offer other practises including reiki and staff challenges – walks. runs and maybe even cold-water dipping.”
Around 18 members of staff attend the weekly wellbeing sessions at Right at Home Cheshire, based in Lowton Warrington, and Julie is also planning to run the group at her second office, Right at Home Lymm and Warrington South, this quarter.
