Children at St Thomas’s School, Golborne, can look forward to getting outdoors for lessons after new head teacher Joanne Woods took up her post.
Mrs Woods, who has been recently been appointed the permanent Head Teacher of the school, has a real passion for outdoor learning, which she lists as one of her top priorities to help develop St Thomas’s.
Already well-known to parents and pupils, Mrs Woods has been Deputy Head Teacher and Acting Head Teacher for the past three years at the school, which is rated Good by Ofsted.
Pupils and staff have already been enjoying some of the new activities that Mrs Woods has planned for them, giving them a little taste of the new head’s ethos and leadership style. And Mrs Woods’ passion for being active doesn’t end at school – she lists her hobbies as walking her two dogs, cycling and skiing.
All in all, it sounds like a very exciting future for St Thomas’s!
