The trials and tribulations of living with chronic fatigue are captured in a thought-provoking collection of poems and verses in a new book by Lowton woman, Emma Calder.
‘Off My Chest‘ is a “brutally honest” collection of modern, contemporary poems which describe Emma’s six-year struggle to get the support she needed after being diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and Fibromyalgia aged 14.
The poems cover many of her battles since then, not only in learning to cope with her conditions, but also her frustration at finding so many obstacles in her way when it came to getting the right support and medical care.
Emma’s decision to turn poet and author has resulted in a collection of work which is both inspiring and brave. Off My Chest is a ‘warts and all’ book which other chronic illness sufferers may find much to identify with!
If you want to know more about what it’s like to live with chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia, this is likely to be a really useful read.
