Lowton’s historic Hare & Hounds is to close at the end of this month for a significant refurbishment which is set to totally transform the pub, both inside and out.
The pub, which dates from the 17th century, will be shut for 10 days whilst it undergoes a complete facelift.
Last orders before the refurb are at 7pm on Sunday, 1 March 2020, and it will reopen as your local Sizzling Pub & Grill on Thursday, 12 March at 5pm.
Having stood proudly on the crossroad as one of Lowton’s most recognisable landmarks for 300 years, the pub will soon be looking its best once more with a much-needed makeover outside. The £250,000 refurbishment will include not just a new coat of paint but also a complete revamp of its outside drinking / smoking area with better lighting and all new outside furniture.
Inside, the old children’s play area is going, opening up the dining space to become a far more attractive, lighter and brighter area for dining.
Chris Monks, who has been manager at the Hare & Hounds since last July, says his focus is on keeping the Hare & Hounds as a family-friendly community pub where you can get great value food from the Sizzling Pub & Grill menu. It means the Hare & Hounds will continue to be a “good old fashioned local pub” – somewhere you can get good ale and enjoy a drink with family and friends in a friendly and attractive environment. Plus, the pub will continue to offer sports fans a fantastic programme of live football, rugby, cricket, golf, horse racing and more.
Chris said: “The whole team are really excited for our remodel to Sizzling. It will make such a difference for the local community, especially the outside of the building which is being fully decorated too.
“Inside the layout will remain very similar, but with full new interior decoration, new furniture, upgraded toilets etc. The bar is also being fully refit and we will have a great selection of cask ales.”
Once the transformation is complete the Hare & Hounds will reopen with a celebration event on Thursday, March 12 from 5pm.
More details about the event will be here on Lowton and Golborne News soon.
