A huge well done to Mr Hunt, headteacher at Golborne Community School, who cycled 158 miles taking on a charity coast to coast challenge during the school holidays.
The intrepid head has raised more than £900 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice in the process – and he says the schools values were always at the front of his mind as he took on the sometimes gruelling challenge.
Mr Hunt began his trip with six other cyclists in Whitehaven on the Cumbrian coast and spent three days with his friends cycling to Tynemouth located on the coast in Tyne and Wear.
He said: “I keep fit – I go swimming before work – but this was all inclines including one section which was uphill for six miles.
“It was a fantastic challenge and I certainly had to use all of the school’s values to get through: Resilience, Empathy, Ambition, Pride, Respect and Patience.”
Mr Hunt continued: “I wanted to raise money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice because all my family is from Wigan and I wanted to do something for a local charity, which does amazing things for extremely ill people.”
