by Editor

Congratulations to Phil Boardman,  Musical Director of The Three Towns operatic society , who has been named ‘Best Musical Director’ for the society’s production of ‘Iolanthe’ at Joseph’s Hall, Leigh in May 2022.

The accolade came at the North West Region of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association Awards, which were held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool recently.

Phil said: “When we perform we aim to make good music,  this is what we love to do and for which the society has an excellent reputation.

“It is fabulous for that to be recognised when winning such an award, for both the society and  myself as their Musical Director”.

The Three Towns are currently in rehearsal for their next production, ‘The Gondoliers’, which will run from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 May at St. Joseph’s Hall, Leigh bringing live theatre to the community. Phil will conduct their professional orchestra at the shows.

The Gondoliers is a musical comedy by Gilbert & Sullivan full of lively, foot-tapping music!  It follows the story of two brothers, Marco and Guiseppe. They lead a charmed life as Gondoliers in Venice until they discover that one of them is the heir to the throne of Barataria.
