Long service awards for stars of local theatre group

by Editor

Following their recent successful production of The Gondoliers, the Three Towns held their Annual Dinner and Awards Evening at Culcheth Village Club.

Long Service Awards for affiliation to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) were presented by Chair of The Three Towns, Ann Batchelor, to David Kay, Derek Morris and Margaret Laithwaite for 55 years of treading the boards. Meanwhile, Ken Rees, Gill Rees and Mildred Marsh were recognised for their 45 years with the group and Rachel Clarke for 20 years.

It was also a chance for the group to reflect on their recent award success elsewhere, too, with Phil Boardman, Musical Director having recently been named ‘Best Musical Director’ at the North West Region of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association Awards. The group’s publicity team also scooped ‘Best Programme (NW Area)’ too, for their production of ‘Iolanthe’ at Joseph’s Hall, Leigh in May 2022.

What’s next for The Three Towns?

The society is now in rehearsal for its annual concerts which will take place on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November at St. Joseph’s Hall, Leigh WN7 2PR. They’ll be performing a variety of songs from the shows, Broadway, West End, Popular and Classical Music, in a relaxed cabaret setting.
