Parkside Colliery Male Voice Choir have been based in Ashton-in-Makerfield for 50 years. Originally formed as a colliery choir, they continue to entertain throughout the country long after the colliery itself at Newton-le-Willows closed in March 1993.
The choir have a distinctive sound and are proud to represent their heritage and forefathers with the word ‘colliery’ in their name.
Parkside Colliery Male Voice Choir regularly attend mining related events, memorial services and dedications including Golborne, Maypole (Abram) and Pretoria (Atherton).
They meet on Monday nights to rehearse at the Congregational Church, Hilton Street, Ashton in Makerfield.
New choir members are always welcome – and there is no upper age restriction on taking part.
