Do you run a local community group?

New drop in sessions will give you all the information you need about applying for grants and other funding.

If you’re involved in running a local community group, there may be lots of support out there which you might not be aware of.

If you want to access funding, attract volunteers and get expert advice on how to expand what your group offers, new drop-in sessions with the council’s link officer are here to help.

Lucy Hatton is the Community Capacity Officer for Golborne, Ashton and Lowton, and is starting up the drop in sessions in both Lowton and Golborne to allow community group reps to come along and seek advice.

She can point you in the right direction when it comes to funding sources and other practical help that you might need.

  • The Golborne drop-ins take place on the first Monday of the month at Golborne Library from 10am – 12pm.
  • The Lowton drop-ins are at Lowton St Mary’s Community Hall on the second Thursday of the month (starting from 14 September 2023), also 10am – 12pm.

In addition, Lucy is hosting a Networking Event for local groups, which will take place on Wednesday, 23 August 2023 from 1.30-3.30pm at The Salvation Army, Chapel Street, Ashton, WN4 8PB.

It’s a chance to meet others running community groups in the local area, and to share advice and stories about common challenges and opportunities.
