Read Easy Wigan Borough offer free one to one and confidential reading support to adults across the borough. It is a relatively new group, but they already have adults paired with their Reading Coach and making progress.

Now the group is expanding on a weekly basis, but is in need of a new Volunteer Treasurer. If you have a few hours a month to spare, they would love you to join the team.

The role does not require you to have any relevant experience, as it is a straightforward role of keeping financial records and managing payments and income.

If you can manage your own households accounts this role will be one you could do.

For more information on Read Easy Wigan Borough or this role please contact wbleader@readeasy.org.uk.

With just under 3 months to go until Golborne Brass Band represent the North West as 4th Section Champions at the National Finals, they have a couple of positions to fill to complete their line up:

If you're interested please enquire in confidence to Band Manager, Norma Tinsley (07713 560136), or send a message to their Facebook page.

Are you able to make a donation of food or other essentials to support a foodbank which helps local people in need?

Heath Street Methodist Church runs a Foodbank which is currently in need of more donations, and is appealing to local people and businesses for help if they are able to.

They particularly need non perishable foods, cleaning products, toiletries, women’s products, tea, coffee, long life milk and treats.

Items can be taken to church during Coffee Mornings (every week day except Wednesday between 9am and 11am).  Outside these hours, Middleton and Wood on the opposite corner of Salisbury Street and Heath Street have kindly agreed that items can be dropped off there.

You can find out more about the Heath Street Methodist Foodbank, and other ways in which the church supports the local community on their website.
