Date set for Golborne library to reopen

If you’ve been missing your local library since lockdown, you still have a little while longer to wait until the doors are open again.

Wigan Council have confirmed that they are working towards a reopening date for community libraries like Golborne of Monday, 14 September.

The extra time is needed to ensure that the library can open as safely as possible – so behind the scenes staff are working on some changes to get the branch ready.

If you can’t wait until September, there are some libraries open in the borough.

Wigan and Leigh Life Centres and central libraries have now re-opened to the public. Both are initially open for reduced hours – Monday to Friday 10am – 2pm.

Each building also has a temporary capacity limit to allow for social distancing measures.
