Inspiring head and top pupil scoop education awards

Congratulations to two local winners in the Wigan and Leigh Education Awards 2021.

Mrs Alison Gormally at Golborne High School was named Head Teacher of the Year.

Meanwhile, Talia Honeyman, who attends St Luke’s CofE Primary School, received ‘Primary School Pupil of the Year’.

In all, there were 12 awards up for grabs, with a number of local schools  and pupils making the shortlist.

Three Golborne High pupils were nominated for Secondary School Pupil of the Year – they were Aliyah Markham, Darcy Harrington and Ella Rose Scott. Meanwhile, Mrs Alison Bolton was nominated in the Health and Wellbeing category, and the school itself was shortlisted for the Secondary School of the Year Award.

Meanwhile, Mr Matthew Smith, teacher at St Luke’s C of E Primary School, was one of the shortlisted nominees in the Inspirational Teaching Award category.
