Please note, the Forget Me Not Cafe has been suspended for a few months due to the Coronavirus. When we have news about when it will start again, we will share it here.
Since starting as a dementia support group, The Forget Me Not Café has become an important source of support and community for people living in Lowton and Golborne.
The Café has now broadened its purpose and whilst it remains a great support for people with dementia and their carers, it also links in with the Parkinsons Society. But it welcomes anyone to come along, whether they have a medical issue or not – if you simpy want a chance to socialise and make friends, you’ll get a warm reception.
Taking place every fourth Saturday of the month from 10am – 12pm at St. Thomas Church, Church St, Golborne, you’ll be guaranteed a friendly welcome, a listening ear and something warm to eat and drink.
The group has now confirmed several ‘themes’ for its upcoming meetings, as follows:
22 February – Explore your artistic side.
28 March – Buzzing about bees – learn all about bees with a talk from a local beekeeping expert. Also the chance to try and buy some fantastic Lowton honey.
25 April – Feathered friends – come and find out about the different birds in your garden and how to recognise them.
As well as the themed events, every month there’ll be all the usual entertainment including bingo, bacon butties and banter!
The Forget Me Not Café is run by volunteers and is always open to new helpers. If you can help, or you’d like to know more, please contact Maurice on 07940938227 or Ann on 01942 711 489.
