Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee in Lowton and Golborne

There’ll be lots of local and national celebrations as Queen Elizabeth marks her Platinum Jubilee over a long weekend from 2-5 June, 2022.

Here’s our roundup of some of the events and celebrations happening in and around Lowton and Golborne.

Jubilee Picnic in the Park, Culcheth

A community celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will take place on Culcheth Village Green on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Bring a picnic and dont’ forget your Union Jack decorations! More details on time to follow. Find out more.

Royal Tea Party at Golborne Library

Come along and enjoy tea like a Queen at Golborne Library on Wednesday, 1 June at 10.30am. All are welcome to come along for tea, coffee, cakes and games!

Jubilee celebrations at Heath Street Methodist

Golborne Methodist Church

There’s jubilee activities for all ages at Heath Street Methodist Church – a place which is no stranger to historic milestones itself, having recently celebrated its 150th anniversary!

On Sunday, 4 June from 10am there’s a Jubilee Messy Church and Coffee Morning. Children of all ages are welcome to get creative – and messy!

Then, on Sunday 5 June at 11am, the church will be hosting a Jubilee café style worship followed by a picnic lunch. All are welcome.

Official Jubilee Beacon Lighting at Haigh Woodland Park

Get your tickets for this event, which takes place on Thursday, 2 June from 6-10pm.

Mayor’s Jubilee Gala at Pennington Hall Park, Leigh

This takes place on Friday, 3 June from 10am – 4pm.

Party in the Park, Wigan

On Saturday, 4 June, you can enjoy the Party in the Park event and UEFA Women’s Euros event at Mesnes Park, Wigan. The fun is from 11am – 5pm.

Leigh Festival

Coinciding with the long weekend for the Jubilee celebrations is this year’s Leigh Festival.

Taking place from 2-5 June and includes a beer festival, family fun day and lots of chances to join in with some rugby, too.

Culcheth Village Choir performance

Culcheth Village Choir will be performing a free concert on Saturday 11 June 2022, at 5pm to mark the Queen’s platinum Jubilee.

This free entry event will take place in the beautiful setting of Partridge Lakes cafe.

As well as songs from the choir, there will be a guest soprano Pippa Goss, and pianist Hector Leung.

All are welcome to come along to this free event to mark this very special occasion.
